The Wine
TAU! Branco 2024 is a white Vinho Verde wine crafted through a careful and meticulous process, made possible only by the small scale of its production. The grapes—Loureiro, Alvarinho, Fernão Pires, and Trajadura—come from a vineyard located 900 meters from the sea, in the municipality of Esposende.
All grape clusters were hand-harvested into small crates, and the blend was prepared prior to pressing. The resulting must fermented partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in used oak barrels, under temperature control.
Alcoholic fermentation occurred spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, followed by an 11-month aging period on fine lees, in stainless steel and used French oak barrels.
Tasting
TAU! Branco 2024 shows an aromatic profile shaped by its proximity to the Atlantic, with fresh saline notes and citrus aromas, complemented by a subtle complexity derived from aging.
Malolactic fermentation helped integrate the varieties’ natural acidity, resulting in a balanced and precise wine.
On the palate, it is intense and persistent, with a fresh finish marked by pronounced minerality.
Artworks
Rita Castro Neves and Daniel Moreira are the artists behind the 2024 edition of TAU!. Their work reflects a deep reflection on mountain culture, nature and rural life, and consequently on ecology, biopolitics, and environmental preservation.
In homage to the landscape and to the way the land is tended by the women and men of Minho, their work with TAU! looks to the art of winemaking and the art of ceramics as ancestral forms of know-how, transmitted and carefully preserved across generations, working the land so that from it — and within it — we may drink.
